MICA

Integrated Management System

telent’s Management, Integration and Control of Assets (MICA) product enables a sophisticated monitoring and surveillance of systems. Mica’s resilient and scaleable architecture is already revolutionising management systems in the transport sector and is proving to be a valuable asset where security and safety are paramount.

MICA enables the efficient management of small, medium and large-scale systems, including the full control and monitoring capability for a portfolio of sub-systems and presents them as a single application with a common operator interface accessible from a single client host. For example, in surveillance scenarios, all network elements can be centrally managed and controlled, from CCTV cameras  to informations systems.

MICA is a uniform management application which offers full parallel control and monitoring of diverse subsystems in real time. User-friendly, touch screen interfaces individually adapted to the customer and standardised for operation and error management allows for preservation of the overview of complex systems. The user interface is context-sensitive, fully adaptable to the application and offers unrestricted expandability. This approach allows for excellent usability and high productivity.

telent has been active for decades in network monitoring.

Product family - MICA

MICA an access system for multiple systems.

MICA encompasses all the aspects of a multi-manufacturer network system. MICA facilitates integrating manufacturer spanning technology through one single monitoring system into a collective network concept. The integrated concept allows for a full monitoring and control without the necessity of operating multiple management systems in parallel. The reduced training complexity allows for the efficient operating of complex network systems. Individual administrator rights for various users of the system enables the secure operation in the daily work routine.

Distributed and hierarchical client/server architecture

MICA provides a solution by virtue of a system architecture that fulfils all requirements with regards to the number of operators available, the number of monitored functions, reliability and availability. The system can naturally be designed to be completely redundant.

The scalable system can grow to match the needs, starting from the small network to the largest network system and thus enables a cost-efficient entry.

By virtue of the hierarchical architecture, on-site management of individual sites is possible. But the comprehensive monitoring of distributed systems is also an important part of the MICA system. Intelligent functions via subsystems is possible. In this way, events which trigger alarms in the subsystem can be used as trigger for the higher ranking system for example.

Examples for coupled applications:

Subsystem #1 Subsystem #2 Interaction
Access control CCTV Door contact alarm causes MICA to display the entrance area on the monitor. The operator immediately sees who has triggered the door alarm.
SCADA CCTV RTU Sensor reports problems with a product line, an MICA alarm is triggered. Automatic camera switching to the current incident and / or triggering of a "Stop Machine" action
SCADA Speaker, CCTV etc. Fire alarm causes MICA to initiate a specified evacuation procedure, e.g. playing of an announcement over loudspeaker, display of an evacuation warning - opening of emergency exits, switching on of lighting etc.

Support of Integrated Management System

MICA, by virtue of its architecture (process of modeling functionality) and the use of general open standards is designed to completely integrate both existing systems and new technology. The abstraction of interfaces in the system allows for this, i.e. the user does not notice that the higher-ranking external system is managing and operating.

Ease of maintenance is taken into account.

telent has been active for decades in network monitoring. The MICA solution is thus designed by  experienced service personnel familiar wiith the day-to day requirements of complex networks. The system offers a highly developed alarm / event management which is designed for the increasing requirements of the industry.
The most diverse categories are supported: filters, personal task lists, group tasks, histories, a great number of ready-made alarm categories e.g. current, checked, administered, deleted but not processed, deleted and processed, reset, prevented, invalid, etc.

Its suitability for use is also seen in the ability of MICA to work with other systems and the handling of alarms in this network are precisely controlled.
